Special Instrumental Scholarship

Our Special Instrumental Scholarship (SIS) is offered to students who show potential for learning and excelling on a chosen musical instrument. All Year 7 students will be given the opportunity to take a Music Aptitude test before they commence at the College. There are 25 scholarships on offer. If selected, students are given the option to learn a band instrument or voice for free through the program.

The scholarships are offered on the following instruments:

​The package provided as part of the program includes the following:

  • 1 x 25 minute group or individual lesson per week for the 2024 school year;

  • 1 x 40 minutes band rehearsal per week (8.15-8.50am);

  • 1 x 40 minutes choir rehearsal per week (8.15-8.50am);

  • A minimal hire fee ($50 per semester); and

  • Performance opportunities throughout the year.


Students who are accepted into this program will be required to:

  • Fully commit to the program for a minimum of one year;

  • Regularly attend the weekly band and choir rehearsals;

  • Fulfil practice requirements;

  • Prepare for each lesson


Students who show musical aptitude will be invited to apply for their preferred instrument. 

Year 7 2025 Aptitude Test

For local Catholic Primary school students (St Francis Xavier, St Lawrence’s, St John’s), this will take place in Term 3 2024 at their Primary school.

  • For students attending non-Catholic primary schools, we will be holding a testing day at the College on Wednesday 14 August and Thursday 15 August 2024 (Week 5, Term 3) at 3:30pm
